SAM WINTERBURN CLAIMS EXGB CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE WITH SURRON STORM BEE

Sam Winterburn has claimed the EXGB British Electric X Indoor Champion title for the 2022/2023 season after the series final at Wheeldon Off Road Centre in Devon.

Dominating the field in the adult open class on the Sur-Ron Storm Bee across the season, undefeated Winterburn won all six races that took place over the weekend, joined by teammate Chloe Richardson in third place on Sunday’s race for a double podium finish for the PCR-E Performance Factory Surron team.

“I’m chuffed to be taking the title for this year”, said Winterburn. “The Surron Storm Bee is an incredible bike to ride so these events are always a lot of fun for me, but it’s also a great opportunity to prepare for what’s next: The FIM E-Xplorer series that starts this May.”

The Surron Storm Bee comes standard with 22.5 KW of peak power, 520 Nm of peak torque, a top speed of 68mph, reaching 0-50mph in 3.6 seconds, and Sam’s championship-winning Storm Bee machine is specifically set up by the PCR E-Performance team, an official Sur-Ron dealer based in Cannock, UK and one of the UK’s top motorcycle performance tuning centres. Pair that with Sam’s history in enduro and super enduro riding, as well as his proven talent in motocross, and it’s clear why the team have set their sights on both National and International racing titles for this year.

“Both the EXGB Championship on a national level and the FIM E-Xplorer series on an international level are big opportunities for Surron as a manufacturer”, said Andrew Shepherd of ePowerSports, Surron’s official distributor in the UK. “They both give us a chance to showcase our commitment to electric performance and highlight that we’re serious contenders when it comes to the racing scene. Huge congratulations to Sam and the PCR-E team on their championship title – what a fantastic start to 2023, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for the team.“

The EXGB Championship saw incredible results across the board for Surron riders. Following the announcement of the new Surron Fast and Female team, 16-year-old Beanie Reece and teammate Anya Colley took to the tracks on their new Sur-Ron Light Bee e-bikes to compete in the Open Class B races. Claiming a fantastic P1 and P2 respectively in their class, Beanie also claimed 3rd place in the overall and final championship standings.
